Most of January I was abroad. Then upon my return , I developed an ailment that made it just about impossible to use my left-hand.
Some friends had asked if my silence had to do with Gaza. Not a all. In the next few posting I'll be adding my take to everyone elses.
Here I want to take a few minutes to describe the ailment in the hope that it may help others with the same problem.
For many years I have sufferef from bouts of Gout. However it is normally kept under control by taking medication (Allopurinol) which controls the Uric Acid and by diet (no organ foods like liver, easy on red meat, red wine and alchohol in general).
Normally gout attacks the big toe, ankle and sometimes the knee.
So two weeks ago I returned from the USA and found that my left wrist was swollen with the wrist joint extremely painful.
Turns out that it was a rare attack of gout traced back to the fact that we had been on a cruise for nine days immediately before coming home. On the cruise I drank much more wine than usual, had several steaks and prime ribs and drank a lot more liquor and beer than usual at the entertainment in the evenings.
The point of all this is rwo-fold: One, if you suffer from gout, keep control of what enters your body and two, even though the physiotherapist and the doctor (a rheumatologist) said that gout does not attack the wrist, know that it does.
May you never have gout!
